How to describe our two weeks on the road?
Frankly, it has been challenging and amazing at the same time. However, let’s go back in time.

Final goodbye to our old apartment
As you can understand from the title, our NEW life started two weeks ago, 09.05.19. Firstly, we aimed April, but we soon realized that the van update takes considerably longer time than initially expected. I will write a separate blog post about all the updates that we did on VIVI.
Let me be honest with you. Even for us, it has been a challenging start. It took almost 1,5 months to finish the van while we lived in three different places because we sold our apartment. First weeks of the renewal we had snow, and it was so freaking cold, which meant that we could do only indoor jobs. Unfortunately, I got quite ill, so Karl had to do a lot of things by himself, and on top of that, I got food poisoning and had to go to the hospital. We had to keep postponing the start of the trip. It was mentally and physically very challenging. Our dream to start the trip fresh and relaxed was long gone.

On the 9th of May morning, we discovered another issue. The bicycle rack that we especially bought for our van did not work as it was supposed to. We had two options to start the trip or postpone it again, however, this time we said let’s go. We drove to Lithuania, which is about five and a half hour ride. The weather there was nice and warm. We decided to stay in official campgrounds at the beginning until we feel ready to wild camp. First night felt great finally we were back on the road.

The weather turned bad for the rest of the week, so we kept driving. After all the driving we felt tired, and the dogs hadn’t had a proper rest. We decided to go to our favorite camp in the Czech Republic and stayed there for three nights. It was mostly raining, but it gave us an opportunity to test out our new fancy tent. It’s very comfortable because it’s connected to our van and this way we have much more space and a living room. Initially, we chose between an awning, and a tent but now I’m super happy with our choice. We’ll talk about it more and show how to use it.

We watched Eurovision
On our stay, we even managed to visit a castle (I’m a huge fan of castles). Altogether, we enjoyed South-Bohemia and Camp Paradijs also lucky that we have our winter clothes with us.
